Co operation is a predatory tactic. That's why lions hunt together in pacts. By by hard ing a limited life span into each of these cells, it literally forces them to change. The old dogs who can't learn new tricks go away so that the new dogs have a chance to test out more competitive strategies. And this gets to the economics of force itself. Itwl will always be targeted, so long as there is energy there. But if the defence adequate, then the cost benefit for the attacker is out of favor.
