Is There a Comet in the Right Year?

Meteors last for seconds, and then they burn out or blow up. There have been proposals that what they saw was a comet. It is not impossible, but it is not probable. We don't have a comet on record in the right year. New stars had no meaning when they showed up. And you couldn't use a new star to predict the birth of a jewish king.
