The majority of Americans were still farmers at the turn of this century. JP Morgan was one of the richest men in the world. The owners of the Triangle Shirtwaist Company weren't living in this, but they were living with a degree of comfort that the industrial system could provide if you happen to be at the upper end of the American class system.
