A young knight was challenged to chop off the head of a fellow knight with an axe. He thought it would kill him, but ended up being delighted by the challenge. The lord of the castle then proposed another game: hunting and giving away everything you catch while staying at the castle. But anything that he catches will have to be given to him in return for his weapon. 'The whole story is strange and mysterious,' says author David Walliams. "It's quite a dark game."

In the second half I read a summarised version of the story and some verses from Armitage's modernised version.
