The Customer Is Always Right
If you want someone to continue being your customer, then a level of ampathy is required. People don't want to engage with other folks who aren't willing to see them. This idea of having the empathy to know who it's for, or what's it for expands way beyond the realm of customers service and one star reviews on the internet. It gets to the heart of what we think about when we think about justice. The ability to hold the space, to see the other people for who they are and who they want to be doesn't feel good in the short run but it does open the door for us to make connections that matter.
