"I'm like, and I still can't raise my right arm," he says. "So we get together with all the doctors...and I said, well, if the nerve is dead because everything is torn in my body and I'm not listening to it, let's fix everything." The problem was that once they did all the surgeries, they didn't expect him to ever be able to pitch at that level again. He recalls walking off a minor league field and a rehab deal: "I thought, holy shit, I'm done".
