The National Indian Council and the World's Fair
The centennial was a time of reflection for the try, and part of that reflection was on how badly it had been treating the original people of the land. The national indian council was created to act as an umbrella group to advocate for status and non status first nations and mate people. So were they part of the planning? No, not in any official capacity. But they knew that, you know, that this event was coming, and they wanted to make sure that they had their voices heard in the planning phase. Because this kind of thing wasn't new. indigenous people had been present at world's fairs for a long time, but how they were present was the thing.
