The next time you try to help a stranger late at night, don't. This story is one of the most terrifying experiences that I've ever had in my life. It happened to me last year when I was 24. The South Pacific is generally considered to be a safe place. But sometimes panhandlers turn violent and just recently there had been a report of a woman who matched my description, assaulting a good Samaritan that had stopped to try and help her.
