Monkey found Kong's Iron Rod propped up against the wall of a storeroom. He flew into a corner and emerged in the form of a Badger spirit, to blend in with the little fiends. They recruited waterlord, who relished the thought of proving his worth. The demon king wasn't terribly powerful in and of himself, it was that fillet. That magical headband that sucked everything up. Sun Wukong saluted him as he walked by. Monkey said their destinies were linked now. If he could do the job, he had been given by heaven. But what?
