How Do You Balance Sweeps Against Submissions?

The most successful attacks I've had from closed guard have been arm bars and back takes, right? The arm bar finishes the match and the back take almost, you know, can also finish the match. So I would say that I definitely favor submitting or taking the back from the closed guard versus like looking to sweep or whatnot.
