The Importance of Humor in Movies

Mash was considered a comedy and it is funny, but it's also pretty dark. Half the time like my kids will watch something Even in tommy boy and be like oh that's not funny to them because they've seen it a thousand times due to someone ripping it off. There's one movie in particular that has So many reallyreally funny moments in it and then large stretches where I'm like Is there a joke in here?
