AI is not extrapolating, but inventing new stuff. These are two different ways of going about constructing models of stuff. I think the bar has to be that it has a problem situation itself. At the moment, it's just responding to prompts and acting as a tool. If it comes up with the term prompts because it has aproblem to solve, then that's a different conversation. Never mind science - this can be prosaic stuff too.
