It was not uncommon for programmers to work around the clock and crash under the desks or sleep on futons in the office. Mark Andreessen participated in the chair football games and was reportedly one of the fiercer more dedicated competitors. The most notorious competitions were the gladiatorial contests pitting contestants against one another while riding atop their rolling chairs.
