The Importance of Asking Questions
It affirmed to me that my deepest drive when it comes to religion was the literature of religion. It's interesting how I'd never thought about that before, but it actually makes so much sense. To ask a question is not to demean a tradition, but it is to engage with it. There's nothing funky or trendy or modern deconstructionist about that. The profound engagement with the text has been around for centuries upon centuries upon centuries and there are libraries filled with those questions as old as any building we've got standing.
