The kind of gun reform that people who come from a gun rights culture are most open to is gun reform aimed at behavior of people, not at the gun itself. That's why you have broad support for prohibitions on felons in possession and restrictions on people adjudicated to be dangerously mentally ill. It's also why there's broad support for prosecuting straw purchases where you buy a gun for somebody who's not qualified to own one or who's not legally able to own one. And it's high degree of support for that form of gun control.
This week, Curtis kicks off a two parter on the tough subject of guns in America. Part 1 is a Good Faith Classic where Curtis and David explored the tensions between gun culture and gun control in our hyper-polarized environment. They help us take a step back to think through the “how” of approaching such a complex issue versus just the “what” of our preferred policy outcome. Stay tuned for next week’s Part 2 episode where Good Faith explores what a Christian response to gun violence could look like.
