The Role of Social Media in Moral Outrage
There's research on moral outrage suggesting that it's a unique mixture of both anger and disgust in a particular moral context. This is different than simply feeling angry because you disagree with the policy you're saying. And suddenly you get a more combustible emotion, right? Yes. But when we add in this disgust factor, which is sort of the moral component, if we believe the work of Jonathan Hite, that disgust component is actually what gives us probably the biggest problem in not understanding each other in politics today.
