Tolstoy's Parable of the Ravens

The meaning of this parable is much the same as that we find in Tolstoy's short story it's a warning against greed and hoarding. Around the time of writing this story tolstoy would have been reading and rereading this parable all of the gospels indeed he would have been translating them. He was also powerfully influenced by a writer called timothe bonderev who was a political exile in Siberia a former serf whose beliefs were considered subversive.
