The Pros and Cons of Having a Democracy

Rousseau doesn't like democracy that much. He thinks it's one of these things that sounds really great in theory, but whenever it's put into practice, things never really go that well. Democracy would be great if we lived in a world where no one was ambitious or greedy and there ould be nothing to worry about. But as the world exists now, eventually that power that was originally spread across all the citizens will become funnelled down into a smaller group of people. This is why he thinks it suited to smaller populations. It's not that rousseau thinks democracy can't be implemented, literally. It's just a very volatile system of government once it's in place
