You have to know what failure is. It's not something you can figure out by yourself. You have to have the experience of dropping a bar on your chest and having the guys run across the gym to pick it up. Most people are just stronger than they really are. They have much more in reserve. But remember, you're not going to get stronger by going at some maximum weights. So like the whole idea of getting stronger, you got to test the limits of where you're at within a safe range.
