The Importance of Impalement

Vlad III was Voivoda, or Prince of Valaikia on a few different occasions between 1448 and 1476. He's also known as Vlad Thiepish, Vlad the Impaler. In this last incarnation, he's the basis for one of the most famous characters in literary history, Dracula. The prince's name carried weight from Constantinople to Vienna.
