The research suggests that happiness basically is when you're interacting with your kid and they're talking to you. So this happiness, unhappiness thing is partly because women are doing a lot more of the caretaking. Parenting is work. And during those hours and hours and hours when we're doing caregiving, we may not be especially happy.
