How to Meet the IRS Deposit Deadline for RSU's
A few years ago, the IRS updated its internal revenue manual to offer some relief on when tax withholding needs to be deposited for RSU's. Just about 60% of companies indicate that they do a special payroll run to deposit tax withholding for their awards. Less than 20% of companies pre-fund their deposit liability. Small to medium-sized companies with less robust processes may already be living with or accepting the risk around missing the deposit deadlines.
