The Kolishav Myth - The Importance of the Edited Face
Kolishav myth that individual shots, which may be low on meaning or emotion by themselves, can become highly charged with meaning by the power of the surrounding editing. This is obviously true, and it is largely the basis for the magic of cinema. But specific claim about supposedly neutral faces appears to be not true, at least for some audiences or some faces. It raises really interesting questions like, what are the properties of the maximaly kolishav ambiguous face? You know, what kind of skills would you want an actor to have to be able to have these?
