The Hardest Game to Make an Ad for - Diplomacy

In 2019, I was wrapping up work on the six player poker work. And we were going through all the different games that were out there and trying to think about what would be the hardest game to make an ad for. We felt like Diplomacy was that game. The idea that you could have a bot in free form dialogue, discussing strategy and complex plans on other players, and then understanding what other players are saying to it just seemed like, it really seemed like science fiction to get an ad that could play this game. It took like 40 years for researchers to make anAd that could play chess,. And then it took another 20 years for go, and poker took decades.
