The Foregrounding of Identity in Modern Society

The project of modernity is creating yourself not discovering yourself which is perhaps a pre-modern notion but the idea of inventing yourself. When people look to islam why people either practice a religion us moderns or why people convert to the religion well came to my mind was perhaps there's an issue of identity there. In some ways god has taken a backdrop right god is it's now foregrounded in contemporary understandings of muslims as they relate to aslam and so that's also what's playing around here.
