Christopher Perrin: Our understanding of reality and our engagement with the real would be so, so narrow if we had to have direct experience with anything before we would know it to be true. How would you live in such a world? You do believe people, but he's going further and he's saying, there's something about you and me that delights in coming to know truth this way. This reminds me of what Chesterton said about his own life being something like a story. He writes, I had always felt life first is a story. And if there is a story, there is a storiesteller with a capital S.
