Welsh and Cornish - Is Welsh a Native Language?

Cornish and Welsh are native languages to the British Isles, that in a sense predate English. The Celtic languages split off into two branches: Gadelic and Brythonic. A Cornish speaker would not be able to naturally just understand a Gaelic speaker or an Irish speaker or a Manx speaker. They're just too far apart. But with Welsh and Cornish, Welsh definitely helps with learning Cornish for sure.
