The word queer is meant to convey it's a difference that we can't quite pinpoint. The National Lesbian Gay Journalists Association doesn't fully embrace queer. They say originally a pejorative term for gay, now reclaimed by some LGBTQ people,. used with caution, still extremely offensive, but used as an epithet and still offensive to many LGBTQ people.
