The Cognitive Dissonance of the UK Lockdown
It's going to take more than a generation's distance to summon up the honesty required to judge lockdown. For me, it's been a huge learning experience about human nature. What we witnessed in real time was the mass evocation of fear and compliance. That's done by leveraging human biases that we normally like to play down. And what we saw was the state mercilessly leveraged those biases to make us follow lockdown rules.
