Aeneas himself seems to understand that he is making an intervention into some kind of italic tradition. But of course, homer belongs to the entire mediterranean by this point. So we probably shouldn't divorce him off as just greek,. because he has become currency for the whole mediterranean. Yes? And ineas himself, as with the rest of the early roman poets, wasn't from rome agilleus rites that are a greek and oscan and latin. We should be interested in whatever of his contemporary world he's trying to reflect. It isn't insignificant that it is turning to homer that allows him to make his poetic monument.
