The Relationship Between Surgery Duration and Post-Operative Delirium

The study was published in JAMA Network Open. It examined the relationship between procedure duration, the type of anesthesia, and the occurrence of post-operative delirium. Delirium is notoriously hard to capture in administrative data; it's very possible that many cases are missed. The authors found that increased duration of surgery and receiving a general anesthetic were associated with increased risk for post-operativedelirium.
