What's the Role of Gentimysen and Refampen in MRSA Prosthetic Valve Endocarditis?
The American Heart Association and IDSA guidelines recommend two weeks of Gent and six weeks of Refampen for prosthetic valve endocarditis due to staph, including co-negative staph and staph aureus. A survey done of about 550 infectious disease doctors found that about 66% of them used Gent and 91% use Refampen in the same condition. The idea behind this paper was inspired by a tweet from Gabe Vilchez who ran a Twitter poll asking people what they would do if it were up to them.
