Project Bluebeam - The Next Big Thing
Brain-computer interfaces, or BCIs, allow people to control computers using their thoughts. Electroconvulsive stimulation is a medical treatment that involves sending electrical impulses into the brain to induce a brief seizure. The military uses ECS on fighter pilots to increase their performance. Step four of Project Bluebeam is faking an alien attack. This actually wouldn't be hard to do. All you really need is a story and a compliant media to tell it.
