The Cult of Domesticity

The cult of domesticity, that's the way that scholars often talk about it in Europe, but it also manifests in the US as the cult of true womanhood. Their roots are this change in European culture, especially British culture has a lot to do with this. I mean, this is tied up with imperialism. It's tied up with racism. You just can't get out of it too. The idea that women are created because of the enlightenment that we kind of go back to this Aristotelian idea that there's something wrong with women. And so everything about them should be focused on child rearing.
