The soldiers' plan was to kill the prisoners, lest any should swim away and escape. The centurion, wishing to save Paul, kept them from carrying out their purpose. He ordered those who could swim to throw themselves overboard first and make for the land. And so it was that all escaped to land. I beg you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called.
