The Origin of Traditional Pensions
Pension plans go back hundreds of years, where governments would often give a guaranteed income to loyal civil servants. Up until around 19 80, if you had a a retirement plan at work, and only about half of people had them. All that has changed um since the 19 eighties, and now it's a minority of the labor force that have pension plans. It just all depends upon how much money you have been able to accumulate as to how many years of retirement you can support.
