The Rise of Brown Power
Ga Tamatoa drew inspiration from the revolutionary faction of the Black Power movement in the US. The group advocated for welfare and self-help programs for Maori development. In 1975, Ga Tamatoa would merge with Matakite as part of the land rights movement. This marked the end of their separate existence and also led to the rise of Brown Power.
