Is There a Mystic Reason Why They End Up in the Desert?

Every town or city, if you go far enough back in history, come down to a handful of settlers. So often i see cities there in places that don't make sens like they're really far from access to fresh water. And so just thinkg about again, even if they don't have their resources, resources still are the reason they end up where they are. When you're placing a city on a coast line, it makes more sense to put it in a sheltered cove or harbor. Soya, look for natural harbours. Look for natural places where people are going settle.
