The Enabling Act and the Reichstag Fire
The Reichstag fire became a big deal in retrospect because Hitler actually did something about it. The Enabling Act was passed on March 23, the same year, which basically gave him far greater power. And he immediately swung into action dealing with the communist agitators. Germans in other countries and in Germany declared that they were going to boycott importing anything from Germany.
