Ofa wanted to be supreme, most powerful ruler in britain. He believed he could bring the other anglo saxon kingdoms into his orbit but not wales. So he had a 150 mile long dike built along what is now the border of england and wales. Sometimes people see this as sort of the birth of some notion of unified england. But probably that's not how ofa was thinking of it.
