Did machiavelly have any particular affection for a specific system of government? He only learnt from that, but wasn't sympathetic to the actual outcomes. In macuvly's works he distinguishes clearly between principalities and republics. But i should say two things to qualify it. One although they are very different, they actually share a lot in common as well. Any of principality in renaissance italy, and particularly a unoficial principality like thato of the medici a, still had to work with organs that were very similar to those that you the republic.
