This story appeared in the the book chinese fairy tales and fantasies e, edited and translated by moss roberts. The original title is tu su chun, and it is included in the the su swan kui lu, an early ninth century c e collection compiled by li fuyin. Though there seem to be some disagreements on the exact dateof when this, this original text was published or written.
