The Fed's policies have a real and potentially devastating impact on people's lives. The degradation of the public school system in the 70s and 80s was very much not attributable to Fed policy. Greenspan began to proactively increase the inequality divide because the focus with him in a leadership position shifted increasingly to the stock market as a barometer for the efficacy of Fed policy.
