CHAPTER

Is There a Consciousness in Artificial General Intelligence?

If more fully autonomous artificial comes around, then we might have to start worrying about it being conscious and therefore presumably worthy of moral concern. But you don't think we have to worry about it too much before then. So i'm just wondering if you can say a bit about why, and whether you think it's possible that programms or computers could become gradually more and more conscious. And might whether that process might start before they are fully autonomous. I guess one would expect to get to a conscious a i well before we get to human level artificial general intelligence.
