Do You Know if You Whack the Bobo Doll?
The bobo doll was a little inflatable thing with a weighted bottom that if you pushed on it or whacked it, it would tip over and then pop back up. That doll was used in experiments where children got to observe other people interacting with the doll. When they observed people whacking the bobo doll, when given an opportunity, they imitated that behaviour. And they were more likely to whack the bo dol. This is without any instruction, without any kind of direction about what to do. It may seem like now, like ano kidding, but at the time, that was a pretty remarkable finding.
