The Different Types of Carbon Storage in the Bahamas

The most common species of seagrass in the Bahamas is postodonia oceanica. It has fairly deep and dense root mats, root and rhizome mats that are able to trap sediment. So it can build up over time these layers of sediment organic matter and carbon. As long as you're not having big disturbances, a lot of it can just stay down there for millennia.
