Zare and the Inquisitors
I'm pretty sure that it comes up again later on in the series. I think her as well as what they were going to do with Ezra here was, I think there weren't going to be a present. The reality is any really gifted student are going to be taken into custody and then taken elsewhere where they're trained at a secret facility. That's part of Zare's story. And that's kind of what happened to his sister as well is coming into contact with the inquisitors and what goes on at this imperial facility.
