The practice of Samadhi is an ancient one because many, many hermits would fast to death. The whole life is about fasting to death and so when a person does that like voluntarily sheds his body. These bodies of these people therefore become special because death hasn't really touched them. There is no dehant. The soul sort of slipped out like a sword leaving the scabbard. That becomes a special body which used to be kept and bombed and toomed and they would sort of bury in a seated position. India has had these holy burial sites.
