Insight is the ability to see below the surface of behavior and detect the logical organization that produced it. chimps in the wild have this set of gestures they only in the wild they only use those gestures and so it it's always the same ones. Even if they're not raised by each other they can still learn the same ones, but they don't ever actually choose the individual gestures. But burn points out that apes in the wild are not genetically limited to genetic gestures which would really challenge the idea of them having insight.
