The Geopolitical Crunch in the Congo

Climate change will require 26 times the amount of cobalt that we use at the moment. If we need 26 times more cobalt, then we're going to have to set up more mines - and right now that's not a huge priority. When it comes to the DRC, we don't even have the transport, rails, infrastructure, docks ready to handle the volumes that are projected to go forward. And this is just a basic logistical bottleneck. We aren't even factoring in things like war breaking out, which seems quite likely going forward. Moving away from electric cars once again becoming an expensive luxury item makes the whole project much less effective in the fight against climate change.
